Suffruticose cushion-forming perennial with much-branched stock bearing numerous leaf rosettes and 18-28 cm flowering stems. Basal leaves elliptic-spathulate, acuminate, margins undulate; cauline few, linear, distant. Capitula 5-8 mm diam., 6-12 per stem. Calyx divided to c. 0.25. Corolla divided to half-way, upper 2 segments oblanceolate, lower lip divided to c. 0.7, segments oblong, rounded. Fl. 2-7. Marly and clayey hillsides, Quercus scrub, chalk hills and steppe, 600-1200 m.
