Differs from V. debilis by denser pubescence; lower leaves petiolate; lamina broader, ovate to obovate, 2-12 x 2-6 mm, glandular- or eglandular-pubescent to glabrous; fruiting pedicels 4-10 mm, 1,5-3 x bracts, horizontally patent and distinctly hooked upwards below fruit; bracts oblong, all entire; capsule 2-2,5 x 5-8 mm, sinus obtuse-angled, lobes oblong, divergent, 1,5-2,2 mm broad. Fl. 4-6. Moist places in alpine pastures, abandoned alpine fields, serpentine gravel, deciduous forest , 100-2200 m.
