Differs from V. chamaedrys by taller stems, 50-80 cm, pilose with hairs scattered and not in rows, patent, straight or slightly curved, 0,5-1,5 mm; leaves larger, petiole 1-7 mm, lamina 30-80 x 15-50 mm; racemes 8-14, opposite, 10-25 cm, rather laxly 15-35-flowered, always sparsely eglandular-pilose, pedicels 2-6 mm; 0,3-0,8 x bracts; capsule 3,5-5 x 5-6 mm, keel ciliate, surface glabrous. Fl. 6-7. Deciduous forests, Rhododendron scrub, stream banks, mountain meadows, 600-1600 m.
