Creeping herb. Vegetative stems 3-10 cm long, 1-2 mm diam., puberulent; flowering stems unbranched, erect, 5-30 cm, puberulent and often glandular. Lower leaves shortly petiolate , upper sessile; lamina oblong-lanceolate to ovate, 8-25-x 5-13 mm, subglabrous, obtuse, margin subentire or slightly serrulate-crenate. Raceme 10-35-flowered, with short curved hairs and often also with patent glandular hairs. Pedicels 2-5 mm, 0,5-1x bracts. Calyx lobes 4, ovate. Corolla white, blue or pink, with purple or dark blue veins , 5-8 mm diam. Style 2,5-3 mm. Capsule 2,5-3,5 x 4-5,5 mm, not overtopping calyx, glandular-ciliate, otherwise subglabrous, sinus acute , base truncate. Seeds numerous, 0,7-0,9 x 0,5-0,7 mm. Fl. 4-7. River banks, wet places, moist meadows, shady forests, s.I.-2200 m·.
Temperate Eurasia, N. America; introduced to S. Hemisphere.
