Laxly to densely pulvinate shrublet. Leaves linear to linear-triquetrous, 15-22x 0.7-1 mm, glaucous-green to pale green, previous year's leaves patent to slightly reflexed, pubescent to glabrous, margins scabridulous. Scapes 2-3 x longer than leaves, 2-3-scaled. Spikes 1-2-branched, densely distichous. Spikelets 6-15, 12-14 rom. Outer bract ovate-triangular, 5-6 mm, purple-tinged, acuminate; inner bracts elliptic-lanceolate, 1.5 x outer bract, purple-tinged, obtuse to slightly retuse, cuspidate. Calyx 10-13 mm, tube glabrous below, pilose above; limb white, 5-lobed; veins purple,reaching margin.Fl. 7-8. Igneous slopes, non-lime scree,1120-2285 m.
