Dwarf, densely caespitose herb. Rootstock sparsely branched. Leaves linear, 4-15 x c. 1 mm, margins ciliolate. Scape 20-35 mm, pilose at base, glabrous above. Outer involucral bracts ovate-triangular, with broad scarious margin, inner similar but 1.5 x longer. Spikelets 2-3-flowered; pedicels 1 mm. Calyx infundibular, 6-7 mm; tube 1-1.2 mm, ± equalling pedicel, herbaceous, with 10 pilose lines; limb membranous, 5-lobed, veins densely pilose, excurrent. Fl. 6-7. Siliceous rocks, stony places, 1500-1700 m.
