Annual. Stems 20-25 cm, erect, slender. Leaf sheaths with deflexed hairs. Leaf blades 5-10 cm x 2-4 mm. Panicle 10 x 5 cm, elliptic, sometimes simple, lax, often drooping; branches long, slender, most pedicels longer than spikelets. Spikelets 5-10 x 2-3 mm, lanceolate. Glumes narrowly lanceolate, lower 2-2.5 mm, upper 2.5-3.5 mm. Lemma 4-5 mm, chartaceous, scarcely notched at apex, margins bluntly angled just above mid-point; awn 3-5 mm, straight, weak. Palea shorter than lemma. Anthers c. 2 mm. Fl. 5-7. Moist fields, s.l.1000 m.
