Annual. Stems 20-70 cm. Upper leaf sheaths inflated; ligule 2-4 mm, Leaf blades 2.5-mm broad. Panicle dense, ovate to oblong, 1.5-3 x 1-1.5 cm. Spikelets shortly pedicellate. Glumes 6-8 mm, glabrous; wing broad, oblique, gradually narrowing to base of glume, margins entire. Sterile lemmas 2, equal, 0.5 mm, glabrous, with a row of hairs at base. Fertile lemma 4.5-5 mm, adpressed-hairy. Anthers 3-3.5 mm. Caryopsis 3.5 mm. Fl. 5-7. Roadsides, field margins, uncultivated land, Eucalyptus woods, s.l.-800 m.
