Leaf sheaths glabrous; ligule to 5 mm, obtuse to truncate; blades 2-13 cm x 1-6 mm, linear, acuminate. Panicle 2-10 x 1.2-2 mm, ovate-oblong or pyramidal, lobed, pale green or purplish; branches semiverticillate. Spikelets 1.5-1.9 mm, oblong. Glumes elliptic, obtuse, unawned, scabrid on back.
