Small tufted annual 10-24 cm. Stems numerous, slender, erect-ascending, geniculate at base, green, glabrous, nodes brown. Leaf sheaths glabrous. Ligule 0.5-1 mm. Leaf blades inrolled, linear, to 10 cm, acuminate, adaxial surface sparsely white-pilose. Panicle to 4 cm. Spikelets 5-7 mm, 5-8-flowered. Pedicels to 3 mm, scabridulous. Glumes ovate-lanceolate, glabrous, veins scabridulous, margins scarious; lower 5-veined, 4.7-5 mm; upper 3-5-veined, 5.5-6 mm. Lemma 9-veined, broadly elliptic-ovate, 2.5-3.2 mm, hairy in lower half; apical lobes acuminate; fissure 0.7 mm, with or without short awn in sinus; callus bearded.
