Perennial. Rhizomes with scaly leaf bases, long-creeping, glabrous; flowering stems erect-ascending, to 40 cm, glabrous. Leaves alternate, ± distichous-spreading, rigid, glaucous; sheaths overlapping, glabrous; ligules 1-1.5 mm. Leaf blades lanceolate, 4-8 x 0.25-0.5 cm, green, broadly acute, glabrous on abaxial surface, densely or sparsely long-pilose on adaxial surface; margins scabridulous, Inflorescence a terminal, contracted panicle, narrowly pyramidal-ovate, 3-6 cm, axis ridged, glabrous; branches ascending, 1.5 cm. Spikelets shortly pedicellate. Glumes greenish-hyaline, glabrous or minutely pubescent on back, acute, ovate; lower glume 1.8-2.2 mm, upper glume 2.5-2.8 mm.
