Perennial with a woody caudex. Stems numerous, decumbent, 5-20 cm. Leaves obovate to elliptic, the lower leaves 1-3 x 1-2 mm, the upper leaves 6-12 x4-6 mm. Both axillary and terminal racemes present, 1-3 cm, 5-10-flowered. Bracts shorter than the pedicels. Upper sepals broad, gibbous. Inner sepals asymmetrically broadly ovate to elliptic, slightly stipitate, mauve or blue, with veins anastomosing at the apex, 4-7 x 2-4 mm. Corolla equalling or a little shorter than the inner sepals. Anthers sessile. Capsule narrowly winged, broadly ovate to oblong, obcordate. Fl. 6-7. Bare ground, rocky places, forests, etc., s.I.-2500 m.
