Scrambling perennial. Stems up to 1 m. Leaves cordate-sagittate, acuminate. Inflorescence spike-like. Pedicels at most 3 mm, articulated above the middle. Perianth segments whitish, c. 2 mm in flower, accrescent in fruit. Nut 4-5 mm, finely granular, black, enclosed in the accrescent, keeled perianth segments. Fl. 5-9. Scrub & fields, s.I.-2500 m.
