Annual herb. Stems usually procumbent or prostrate, mat-forming. Ochreae much shorter than the internodes, brownish-based, with faint nerves. Leaves elliptic. Flowers borne in fascicles in the axils of the upper leaves. Perianth less than 3 mm, pinkish or white, divided into lobes for about ½  its length. Nut dull, 1,5-2 mm, not or scarcely exserted from the perianth. Fl. 6-11. Roadsides, waste places, slopes, etc., s.l.-2300 m.
Exact distribution unknown, probably throughout Europe.
