Annual. Stems prostrate, branched up to 30 cm. Ochreae shorter than the internodes, brownish based, with faint nerves. Leaves ± elliptic, subpetiolate. Flowers borne in fascicles in the upper leafaxils. Perianth white, 3-4 mm. Nut very glossy, 4-5 mm, clearly exserted from the petianth. Fl. 7-8. Sandy sea shores.
