Perennial with creeping rhizome. Flowering stems erect, up to 1 m. Basal leaves 1-2 x longer than broad, ovate-cordate with rounded apices; secondary veins in the middle portion of the leaf forming an acute angle with the main vein. Panicle dense. Pedicels filiform, much longer than the inner perianth segments. Inner perianth segments enlarged in fruit, cordate-triangular, 4-5 x 3,5-5 mm, etuberculate, entire. Fl. 6-8. Screes, streamsides, shady places, 1500-2500 m.
