Perennial up to 80 cm. Leaves oblong-lanceolate, often undulate-denticulate. Glomeruli of the inflorescence remote, usually subtended by a leaf. Pedicels about as long as the fruiting perianth segments. Inner perianth segments lingulate, 2,5-3 x 1-1,5 mm, all tuberculate, the tubercles as broad as or almost as broad as the segments. Fl. 5-9. Dunes, banks, meadows, cultivated land, s.l.-1300 m.
