Perennial forming dense cushions or lax mats. Leaves 2-6 x to 1,5 mm, narrowly ovate to linear, margin entire, ± glabrous to villous. Scapes 1-20 mm with spreading hairs often mixed with minute glandular hairs. Inflorescence 1-4-flowered. Bracts 2-6 mm, ovate to linear-lanceolate, usually much longer than pedicels. Calyx 2-4 mm, pilose. Corolla 4-7 mm diam., tube ± equalling calyx in length, white with yellow eye becoming rosy-pink with age. Capsule 2-3 mm. Fl. 5-9. Limestone or granite screes or ledges, rocky or turfy slopes and hilltops, 1400-4000 m.
