Small delicate glabrous annual, 1,5-11 cm, with ± square stems. Leaves opposite, sessile; lamina 4-8,3 x 0,5-1,6 mm, linear to subulate. Flowers solitary in leaf axils; pedicels 2,5-4 mm. Bracts absent. Calyx lobes linear-lanceolate, 2-3,5 x 0,5-1 mm. Corolla pale yellow, much shorter than calyx, glandular-hairy inside, lobes ovate or ± obovate, 0,4-0,7 x 0,3-0,5 mm, margin glandular-ciliate. Capsule globose, glabrous and without dotted glands. Fl. 2-5. Open Quercus aegilops scrub, on serpentine and rocky limestone slopes, clay soil, s.l.-1200 m.
Mainly Mediterranean area, scattered in S.W. Asia, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Cyprus, Crimea and Caucasia. Medit. element.
