Perennial, 8-45 cm with sturdy rootstock bearing numerous thickish roots. Leaves 2,5-34 x 1-7 cm, lamina ovate, oblong or elliptic, base cordate, truncate or cuneate, shorter to longer than the ± winged petiole, glabrescent to shortly hairy above, often densely so below, margin irregularly crenate. Scape with spreading glandular hairs. Inflorescence 2-16-flowered, often secund. Bracts linear-triangular, shorter or longer than pedicels. Pedicels 1-20 mm, unequal. Calyx 10-25 mm, obconical, concolorous, lobes 3-6 mm, triangular-acute, scarcely spreading, with glandular hairs. Corolla tube 13-25 mm, equalling or longer than calyx; lobes 5-10 mm, emarginate, golden yellow. Capsule shorter than to equalling calyx.
