Plant 7-25 cm. Rootstock tuberous, short, ± globose. Basal leaves trisect into subsessile segments deeply lobed into incised or crenate-dentate lobes, adpressed-pilose above, glabrescent and usually purplish beneath. Involucral leaves petiolate, trisect into subsessile segments like those of the basal leaves. Flowers solitary. Tepals usually 12-15, narrowly oblong, lavender-blue , 14-25 mm. Achenes pubescent. Fl. 3-4. Rocky slopes and scrub, 150-2600 m.
