Stems leafless, up to 60 cm. Basal leaves evergreen, long-petiolate, digitate, with 7-10 narrowly elliptic, coarsely toothed segments, glabrescent to shortly pilose beneath. Sepals greenish white, sometimes fading purplish, ovate, slightly clawed, 20-30 mm. Anthers with a short to long apiculus, rarely blunt. Follicles coalescent only at the base, not inflated, 20-25 x8-12 mm, beaked. Seeds usually more than 6. Fl. 3-5. Scrub, forests, s.l.-2200 m.
