Tall, glaucous perennial, glabrous or sparsely adpressed-pilose. Rhizome articulate, far-creeping. Stems 60-90 cm. Radical leaves petiolate, ovate-oblong, cordate at base, disappearing before flowering time. Stem leaves short-stalked or sessile, oblong-lanceolate, subacuminate, entire or subdenticulate, up to 15-20 x 1,2-2,5 cm. Sepals spreading. Petals c. 1,5 cm. Achenes obovate, c.2,5 mm, minutely pitted, narrowly keeled; beak very short, straight. Fl. 7. Swampy places, up to 1400 m.
