Perennial, 8-25 cm. Root tubers ovate, 5-25 mm. Stem 1-2-flowered. Leaves tripinnatisect, glabrous, green, dissected into short, linear-lanceolate laciniae. Sepals adpressed, glabrescent, pointed. Petals ovate, c. 1,5 cm. Fruiting head ovate-oblong, 1-1,5 cm x 7 mm. Achenes suborbicular, 2,5 mm, punctulate, contracted into a spreading, uncinate, 1,5 mm beak. FI. 3. Rocky limestone slopes near the coast.

S. & Eastern C. Europe, Lebanon, N. Africa. Centred in the Mediterranean region.
