Laminate leaves, when present, reniform or often truncate at base, with 3 or 5-cuneate, entire or crenate segments. Submerged capillary leaves spreading, robust, not collapsing when removed from water. Peduncle usually longer than petiole of subtending leaf. Sepals 2,5-4,5 mm, occasionally blue-tipped. Petals broadly obovate, 5-10 mm, contiguous at late anthesis; nectary lunate. Torus pubescent, elongating slightly in fruit. Carpels glabrous, narrowly winged when dry and mature, 15-55. Fl. 3-6. Alt. s.l.-1120 m.
