Perennial, 12-30 cm; root tubers ovate-oblong, up to 1 cm. Stems slender, 1-6-flowered, adpressed silvery-pilose like the leaves. Radical leaves tripartite, cordate at base, segments cuneate, usually not touching, ± acutely 3-5-lobed or incised. Sepals strongly reflexed. Petals 8-10 mm. Fruiting head ovate-oblong, c8 x 6 mm. Achene rhomboid-orbicular, flattened, 1,5 mm, smooth, often shortly pilose, contracted into a 2-5 mm ± straight, divergent beak. Fl. 5-6. Stony slopes and Pinus nigra forest, 880-2000 m.
Endemic; closely allied to R. rumelicus and R. cuneatus.
