Stout biennial, 30-100 cm, softly hirsute throughout. Cauline leaves palmatifid, segments entire or 3-5-incised. Bracteoles at base of pedicels. Flowers dusky blue, 15-20 mm; lower petals obovate, glabrous, gradually narrowed into a claw; spur only 1/3-1/5 as long as sepals. Follicles ventricose. Fl. 5-6. Woods, waste and rocky calcareous places, s.l.-250 m.
