Shrub up to 3 m. Young twigs and winter buds pubescent. Leaves broadly ovate or ovate-oblong , 2,5-9 x 2,5-4 cm, crenate-serrulate, pubescent on both sides, rounded at base, veins 10-25 on each side; petiole 5-10 mm, densely pilose or nearly glabrous. Sepals deciduous in fruit. Fruit 4-5 mm diam., sparsely or densely pubescent. Fl. 6. Rocky limestone slopes and rocks, 1500-2200 m.
