Erect or spreading shrub to 3 m, exceptionally a small tree; young twigs lanate, becoming glabrous. Leaves oblong to obovate, 2-5 x 1,5-3 cm, usually rounded or mucronate at apex, base rounded or subcordate, lanate at first, later bilaterally glabrous; petioles 1-2 cm. Racemes erect, 2-8-flowered, lanate. Flowers 25-30 mm diam. Calyx lanate at first, soon glabrous. Sepals lanceolate. Petals 10-16 mm. Pedicels up to 2 cm . Fruit globose, 6-8 mm diam., glabrous, red when young, bluish-black and with a bloom when ripe.
