Flowering stems sub-glabrous or sericeous. Leaves pinnate; leaflets 5-15, oblong-ovate, 6-20 x 3-8 mm, entire or 2-3-fid at apex, adpressed hairy or glabrous, margins revolute. Flowers in terminal cymes. Epicalyx segments linear-lanceolate, slightly shorter than oblong-ovate, 4-6 mm sepals. Petals yellow, obovate, 5-8 mm, longer than sepals. Achenes pubescent near the attachment at base when young, becoming glabrous at maturity; style lateral or sub-basal, elevated, slightly longer than achene. Fl. 5-9. Mountain steppe, usually near water, 1330-2800 m.
