Rhizomatous, ascending or erect perennial, 15-45 cm. Leaves pinnate; leaflets usually 5, rarely 3 or 7, oblong-lanceolate, 20-40 mm, serrate, pubescent-glaucous beneath, glabrous, green above. Inflorescence a terminal cyme. Calyx purple; sepals ovate, 10-15 mm, acuminate, longer than epicalyx segments. Petals purple, lanceolate, acuminate, 5-8 mm, much shorter than sepals, persistent. Achenes glabrous; style lateral, filiform, longer than achene. Fl. 5-7. Edge of streams and lakes, 1600-2400 m.
