Shrub or small tree 2-5 m; usually unarmed; twigs glabrous or sparsely adpressed-pubescent. Leaves 2-4 x 1-2 cm, elliptic to obovate-elliptic, glandularcrenulate, glabrous or adpressed-pubescent. Petioles c. 1 cm. Flowers white, in clusters of 2-4, appearing with the leaves, 10-15 mm diam.; pedicels 2-4 mm. Drupe pendant, ovoid-globose, c. 2 cm long, yellow flushed with red. Fl. 4-5. In pine forests, 100-1000 m.
