Perennial. Rhizome with ± horizontal, subterranean, orange stolons. Stems numerous, 20-50 cm, erect, quadrangular, ± hispid, glabrescent towards base, simple or ± branched. Leaves 30-80 x 10-27 mm, lanceolate to broadly ovate, ± obtuse to acuminate, abruptly narrowed at base and shortly petiolate , with 3 main veins, hispid mainly along veins and margins. Flowers in head-like cymes, surrounded by involucralleaves and by long-ciliate, oblanceolate bracts. Corolla white to lilac-blue, 8-14 mm, narrowly infundibular; tube 6-10.5 mm; lobes 2-5 mm, oblong. Stamens exceeding corolla lobes, with pale lilac to lilac-blue, linear anthers 1.3-1.8 mm. Mericarps subglobose, 3-4 mm diam., minutely granulate-rugose, glabrous.
