Much-branched, semi-procumbent annual herb. Stems 5-25 cm, 4-ridged, sparsely adpressed-setulose to glabrescent, Leaves subsessile, 0.8-1.6 cm, linear, margins flat or recurved; stipules less than 1 mm, membranous. Flowers solitary or in few-flowered clusters; pedicels 1-4 mm. Calyx tube sparsely pilose externally, 2.5-3 mm, with 8 short triangular ciliate teeth persistent in fruit. Corolla white, c. 1.5 mm, lobes reflexed. Fl. 9. Marshy places , nr s.l.
Tropical Africa; Egypt, Lebanon. Almost certainly introduced.
