Shrubs or small trees 3-5 m. Twigs long, straight, flexible, leafy, densely pubescent when young. Decorticated wood smooth. Leaves lanceolate to linear, 10-17 x as long as broad, 10-25 x 1-1.5 cm, dark green and glabrous above, sericeous beneath, acute, margins revolute, entire; petiole 4-12 mm. Stipules small, linear-lanceolate , caducous. Catkins appearing before or with leaves, subsessile, dense, bracts brownish or reddish; flowers with 1 linear nectary; male 2.5-3 cm, narrowly elliptic-oblong, stamens 2, filaments glabrous, anthers 0.4-0.5 mm; female cylindrical, 4-6 cm in fruit; style very short , shorter than the 0.8-1.5 mm stigma; capsule ovoid-conical, silky-tomentose, subsessile.
