Biennial, 20-90 cm, densely adpressed greyish- to white-tomentose below, glabrescent or glabrous above, eglandular. Stem slender or ± thickish, terete, usually branched from base. Basal leaves elliptic to orbicular, 2,5-15 x 1,5- 10 cm, entire or rarely obcurely crenulate, petiole 2-12 cm; cauline small. Inflorescence loose, with numerous, erect spreading branches, forming broad panicle, with clusters of 1-3 flowers. Bracts small, lanceolate to broadly ovate, obtuse or acutish. Pedicels to 5 mm. Calyx 2-4 mm, spathulate, obtuse. Corolla yellow, 12-25 mm diam., with pellucid glands, glabrous outside. Stamens 5, anthers reniform, filaments with whitish-yellow wool, 2 anterior glabrous above. Capsule oblong-ovate to broadly ovate, 5-7 x 2,5-3,5 mm, stellate-tomentose, glabrescent. Fl. 5-7. Limestone rocks, dry slopes, Quercus scrub, Pinus forest, 70-1900 m.
