Shrub 1-3 m. Branches greyish, arching, spines slender, few, 3-8 mm. Leaves oblong-ovate, suddenly narrowed at base into a short petiole, lamina 1-5 x 0,3-2 cm. Flowers solitary or in clusters of 2. Peduncles 0, 3-1 cm. Calyx campanulate, 2-3 mm, 2-lipped, with 4-5 teeth, in fruit 2,5-3 mm, stellate-spreading. Corolla 9-14 mm, lobes 6-7 mm, margins densely ciliate, tube narrowly cylindrical at base for 1,5mm. Filaments with dense tuft of hairs at base; corolla throat densely hairy. Berry red, ovoid-ellipsoid, 10-15mm. Fl. 4-11. Naturalized or cultivated, s.l.-1000m.
