Shrub to 2,5 m. Branches whitish, rigid, with stout spines, densely and shortly pubescent on younger parts. Leaves obovate-lanceolate, 1,5-5 x 1 cm. Clusters 1-5-flowered. Peduncles 3-5 mm. Calyx 2-3 mm, 4-5-dentate. Corolla 9-14 mm, lobes 2-3 mm, densely ciliate. Filaments glabrous, corolla hairy. Berry red, rather globose. Fl. 4-10. As hedgerows by fields, gardens, vineyards, s.l.-500 m.
