Erect shrub 0.5-2 m. Branches brown- or grey-puberulous in leafy parts. Leaves subsessile, coriaceous, narrowly elliptic or oblanceolate, 16-30 x 2.5-5 mm, mucronate, glabrous. Flowers in terminal clusters of 3-12, pedicels elongating to 6 mm. Bracts 2-3, lanceolate, 3-4 x 0.5 mm, glabrescent, caducous. Perianth subpersistent, 8-10 mm, ochre-yellow or flushed pink; pubescent; lobes oblong-ovate, 3 mm, obtuse. Ovary pubescent. Fruit ovoid, 5-7 mm, orange-red. Fl. 5-8. Limestone cliffs, schist, sandstone, loose volcanic soil, degraded Quercus coccifera-Arbutus macchie, overgrazed phrygana, Pinus brutia woods, in cemetery, s.l.-1150 m.
