Trailing perennial herb, 12-60 cm, vegetative parts and bracts ± densely furnished with closely adpressed white hairs. Leaves cuneate-obovate, 7-30 x 3-14 mm, with 7-9 coarse sharp teeth around upper margin. Peduncles solitary, axillary, 0.5-3 cm; spikes ovoid, dense, becoming cylindrical and to c. 2.5 cm long. in fruit; bracts closely imbricate, flabellate with 2 broad lateral lobes and a sharp central apiculus, 2 mm. Calyx c. 1.25 mm. Corolla pink, lobes oblong-ovate, glabrous or slightly pilose on outer surface. Fl. 4-8. Coastal sands, dune slacks, nr s.l.
