Acaulous perennial herb, 4-15 cm, with overground stolons not rooting at their ends, or without stolons. Stipules linear-lanceolate, long fimbriate, eglandular. Petioles pilose with long deflexed hairs. Leaves ovate-cordate, acute, crenate, pilose, more than 3 cm. Peduncles pilose with deflexed hairs; bracteoles borne in the lower half. Flowers fragrant, light violet to white, lowermost petal 10-17 mm. Capsule usually pilose, lying on the ground when ripe. Fl. 3-4. Scrub and woodland, s.l.-2000 m.
