Biennial. Flowering stems 140-160 cm, erect, usually stout, leafy in lower 2/5 -3/5. Leaves glaucous, margins scabrid. Inflorescence usually simp1e, occasionally branched. Bracts 20-30 mm, lanceolate to ovate. Fruiting pedicels 20-25 mm, jointed ± below the middle. Perianth segments 20-23 mm, white. Capsule subglobose, 12 mm long, 13 mm diam., ± depressed at the apex. Fl. 5-6. Open forest, rocky or stony places, 1100-1300 m.
