Perennial. Flowering stems 25-80 cm, ±erect, ±stout, leafy throughout. Leaves glaucous, margins scabrid. Inflorescence simple, very dense. Bracts 20-30 mm, ovate to oblong. Fruiting pedicels 10-12 mm, jointed ± at the middle, shorter than bracts. Perianth segments 12-15 mm, white. Capsule ovoid to oblong, 8-10 mm. Fl. 5-7. Rocky slopes, stony meadows, forest clearings, 570-2500 m.
