Erect, glabrous, branched perennial herbs, 20-60 cm. Leaves petiolate, often with a rudimentary rachis projecting beyond the leaflets. Leaflets broadly obovate to elliptic, obtuse or sometimes retuse, 20-35 x 10-20 mm. Flowers solitary in the axils of upper leaves erect, pedicellate. Sepals greenish, obovate or elliptic, obtuse, the inner with a broad scarious margin, 7-8 mm. Petals equalling or slightly exceeding the sepals, white or white and orange: Stamens orange, exserted. Capsules becoming pendulous, linear-oblong or narrowly elliptic. 22-30 mm, ± 5-angled, the carpels 4-7-seeded. FI. 5-6. Waste places, steppe, 50-1000 m.
