Bulb oblong-ovoid, 0.8-1.4 cm diam.; outer tunics blackish, finally splitting into fibres, inner tunics coriaceous, orange, all tunics persistent as a vertical row along stem. Stem slender, curved, 6-15 cm. Leaves 1-2, fistulose, 0.4-1 mm broad. Valves of spathe 8-12 mm, shorter than umbel,subequal. Umbel 1.5-3 cm diam. Pedicels unequal, slender, 6-13mm. Perianth oblong-eylindrical; segments 3.5-4 mm, yellowish, greenish-yellow or nearly white, tinged with pink or brown, mauve or purple usually overlaid with a bloom; outer segments oblong, inner ovate-lanceolate, acute. Filaments exserted, to 1.5 x perianth segments. Anthers yellow. Ovary subglobose, substipitate; style 5-6 mm, exserted. Capsule c. 3 mm. 2n = 16. Fl. 6-8. Gypsum hills, 900-1800 m.
