Erect branched glabrous perennial with hollow angular striate stems up to 100 cm. Roots with cylindrical-clavate tubers at base of stem. Basal leaves triangular-ovate, 3-4-pinnate, up to 30 x 10 cm; ultimate segments linear or linear-lanceolate, up to 17 mm. Cauline leaves with linear ultimate segments. Umbels terminal, or some leaf-opposed. Rays 6-12, ± equal or not, up to 5,5 cm, much thickening in fruit. Bracts usually absent, or 1-4, up to 8 x 1 mm. Bracteoles c. 12, 2 x 0,5 mm. Umbellules 30-50-flowered. Fruit cylindrical-obconical, 3,5 x 1,5 mm; styles 2,5-3 mm; stylopodium flat-conical. Fl. 4-7. Marshy ground, ditches, edges of lakes, 400-2000 m.
