Ascending, caulescent, perennial herb, 10-20 cm, with a branched woody caudex; stems 3-6 cm. Leaves 2-7 cm; leaflets 10-12 mm, elliptic to obovate, bifurcate-sericeo-strigillose, 2-4-paired; stipules 3-5 mm, triangular, joined at the base. Peduncles 2-7 cm. Inflorescence 2,5-4 x2-3 cm, an oblong 10-15-flowered spike, elongating somewhat in fruit. Bracts 3-5 mm, linear. Calyx 8-10 mm, tubular-campanulate, densely white-simple-strigose, sometimes with a few black hairs; teeth c. 6 mm, linear. Corolla purple; standard 18-22 mm, glabrous. Legume c. 12 x 3 mm, oblong, laterally compressed, erecto-patent, densely white-simple-strigose; beak c. 3 mm, curved. Fl. 5-7. Steppe, screes, 950-3400 m.
