Herb 50-125 cm, lanate, hairs patent, eglandular. Leaves pale green, wrinkled, basal oblong to lanceolate, obtuse, shortly cuneate, rounded or truncate at base, crenulate to crenate, 5-30 x 2-10 cm, petiole to 10 cm. Floral leaves lanceolate, petiolate, much longer than verticillasters. Verticillasters 3-5, remote, 6-8 cm broad, many-flowered. Bracteoles numerous, subulate, densely long-hispid, curved upwards, 20-25 mm. Calyx 15-23 mm, adpressed stellate-tomentose, with a secondary indumentum of numerous hispid hairs to 10 mm, teeth ovate-truncate at base, then subulate, 8-10 mm. Corolla pink, 40-50 mm, upper lip galeate. Nutlets pubescent at apex. Fl. 6-9. Steppe, Pinus woods, Quercus scrub, stony gullies, 300-2000 m.
