Densely lepidote, many-stemmed perennial, 10-35 cm; scales yellowish to whitish-grey, their margin stellately pilose. Leaves thick, 3-7 x 0,3-0,7 cm, margin ± inrolled ; lower linear-spathulate, attenuate into long petiole; upper linear-oblong, ± sessile; all with apex obtuse or slightly to deeply 3-dentate or -tid, otherwise quite entire. Cymes 1-5-flowered; peduncle 4-10 mm; bracteoles oblong-linear, obtuse to subulate, 2-3 mm, exceeding 1-2 mm alar pedicels. Calyx lobes lepidote and glandular, ovate to obovate: 3,5-4 x 3,5-4,5 mm; scarious margin yellow to buff, 1-2,5 mm broad, lacerate, ± undulate. Corolla greenish to maroon, 7 mm, all lobes with yellow-green border. Stamens exserted; staminode ovate to roundish, lobed. Capsule globose, 4-5 x 4-4,5 mm. Fl. 5-6. Dry gypsaceous hillsides, 1200-1500 m.
